Snep Lighting Oy Begins Operations on July 1, 2026 – The Nordics Are the Next Step

Snep Lighting Oy, a new company formed from the lighting business of Purso Oy, will begin operations on 1 July 2026. The new company believes that demand for responsible lighting solutions will grow significantly in both new construction projects and renovation projects where first-generation LED luminaires are being replaced.

Kaj Koskinen has been appointed CEO of Snep Lighting. According to him, establishing a separate company creates the agility needed for growth.

– The lighting business is very different from Purso Group’s other business areas. We now have more decision-making power in our own hands, which allows us to respond to customer needs even better,” says Koskinen.

– My role is to lead the subsidiary on a growth path. During the second half of 2026, we will focus on accelerating Snep Lighting’s business and finding the right direction for future growth. SNEP® luminaires have already gained a good position in the market, and the brand is well known, but there is still enormous potential ahead of us,” he emphasizes.

Purso Group Invests for the Long Term

In recent years, markets have been affected by events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Despite these challenges, Purso Group has made significant investments in areas including its own aluminium remelting plant, solar energy, waste heat recovery, increased automation, and the development of its lighting business.

– Investments are worth making even during economic downterms. When the markets recover, we are ready to move forward at full speed, says Kaj Koskinen.

Snep Lighting is also significantly increasing its export sales. The company already has a Sales Manager in Sweden, and its goal is to expand operations across the Nordic countries and more widely in Europe.

Europe’s Lighting Stock Needs Modernization

Although LED lighting has become increasingly common, a large share of lighting in industrial and commercial buildings across Europe is still based on older technologies. In addition, many first-generation LED luminaires have reached the end of their service life.

– Lighting technology has developed significantly in recent years. In many buildings, major energy savings can be achieved by upgrading to modern solutions that combine energy efficiency, high-quality light, and intelligent controls. At the same time, productivity and workplace safety can be improved, says Koskinen.

Snep Lighting also plans to build its growth on the strengths of Purso Group. All SNEP® luminaires are manufactured using 100% recycled Purso Greenline® aluminium, produced in Finland at Purso Group’s own remelting plant. Remelting recycled aluminium requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminium.

– Customers are increasingly interested in the sustainability, origin, and life-cycle impact of products. Finnish manufacturing, high delivery reliability, and recycled aluminium give us clear competitive advantages in international markets, says Koskinen.
