A new five-story department building at the Jorvi hospital in Espoo was completed in early 2026. The chosen lighting solution for many parts of the building was the SNEP® luminaire, which is designed to meet the high quality and use requirements of demanding locations such as hospitals.
Ramboll Finland Oy was responsible for the electrical design at Jorvi Hospital. The SNEP® luminaire was chosen because of its ease of installation, recycled aluminum frame and domestic supply.
“Solutions to speed up the construction work were sought in many places. For instance, a long lighting line was implemented along the hospital corridors using only one connection”, says responsible Electrical Planner Heljä Korhonen.
Illumination plays an important role in everyday life at the hospital
The hospital main lobby is an eyecatcher that is highlighted by lighting. An optically high-quality lighting solution was chosen for the lobby, generating an even non-glare illumination and accentuating the stylish look of the lobby.
“The lights in the lobby are unobtrusive and thus stylish for this tall space, where a lot of light is however needed”, says Korhonen.
The tall and wide space imposed its own demands on the lighting, but a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere was achieved by careful planning, with the light fitting the scale of the space without disturbing users.
The new building houses mainly patient rooms and neurology clinic, delivery and operating rooms. Korhonen says that particular requirements were set for the lights as the hospital also treats light-sensitive patients. It was therefore important to avoid flickering and ensure a pleasant illumination that helps patients in their recovery.
“For the corridors, an even lighting and a continuous lighting line were chosen to direct the light sideways and keep it from hitting patients in the eyes as they are moved between rooms”, Korhonen says.
In the cafeteria, the lights support the multi-purpose nature and pleasant atmosphere of the space. The solution uses the same luminaires but at different installation heights to bring the space together but also to subtly differentiate the higher lobby and lower lounge from each other.
Collaborative choice of a suitable lighting solution
The lighting at the hospital was implemented using products in the SNEP® Mode CR product family. Mode CR was excellently suitable for a hospital environment thanks to its even, high-quality light distribution and versatile control features. Korhonen praises the partnership with Purso and their willingness to customize the product for the site.
“I had no previous experience with SNEP® luminaires. I am happy with how Purso helped in customizing the product for the project and according to our wishes”, says Korhonen.
Regional Sales Manager for Lighting Topias Haukkala says that the wiring, fixing and dimensions of the luminaires were adapted to fit the location. The highly productized range made it possible to choose the suitable features, and the longer module dimensions improved the solution’s cost-efficiency.
“The SNEP® luminaire range is carefully designed. Our strength is in making minor adjustments to the product as required”, says Haukkala.
Supply security a prerequisite for a Takt project
The hospital project was a Takt project, with a detailed schedule in place for the building phase of each floor. Light deliveries arrived onsite in several batches in accordance with the schedule. In 2024, the supply security rate for Purso luminaires was 99.4 percent. Juho Kuokkanen of the contractor Quattro Services Oy says the project outcome was highly successful.
“We achieved what we wanted. Deliveries arrived in several batches and went well. This was a big project that we were able to complete on time.”

The lighting solutions for Jorvi hospital were implemented when lighting was still part of Purso Oy. With the incorporation of business operations, lighting expertise is now carried on under the name Snep Lighting Oy.
